Not bad at all, especially for your first time making wallpapers!

You should necessarily take my advice (because I'm no artist), but I usually prefer wallpapers that don't feel too busy. Simplistic, but with a slight fantasy/dreamy feel mixed in.

In the case of your examples, I would say that placement of the clear and blurred hearts is very important. Without starting an OS rant, I just want to point out the simplicity of the Windows 7 wallpaper with a slight dreamy feel.

Also, just cause I found this and just for fun...there are a couple of cool wallpapers posted by Mark here that I like (especially the Penguin looking one).
