backup question-easy

is it better to save my backup to the home folder or /. note i dont
have a separate partition for /home(dont know if that will make a difference in response to my question). tks

Best to keep backups on a different device. External disk drive, USB stick, or Cloud.
If your primary drive crashes, any backups thereon will be very expensive to recover.

dev i agree. i have a tera external hd drive i use as a usb and will transfer my data to that. so does the where i download it to then still make any difference.

and i dont keep my tera mounted unless i want to listen to music or movies.so the backup never includes my media on my tera since it exceeds the size of my hard drive.
