Undelete Files from an Ext3 Filesytem

Hi, I have accidentally deleted some files (videos) from my /home/username.

    OS: Hardy 32bit
    Filesystem : Ext3
No. of hard drives : 1

Is there any way to recover/undelete those files ?

    Please help.

yes just don't use the machine. Testdisk from synaptic using the livecd. One of it's utilities is photorec.

I hope that these help. I haven't really ever had to do it nor have I had to recover accidentally deleted data, but from what I have read,it should work.

This next one is for NTFS systems, but you might be able to use some part of it to recover your data.

Sorry for the late reply. I thought I will write about the recovery process as it goes but when an hour passed I logged out.

2 out of 2 video files have been recovered &
    1 out of 1 mp3 file.

But both the video & mp3 files are severely damaged/corrupted & are hardly playable.

Before starting this thread I actually used this PC a lot.
I guess thats were the problem lies.

Correct me if I am wrong, these file recovery tools no matter how advanced they may be proves to be useful when recovering small files. Files those are in kbs. But when it comes to recovering large files like 200mb they output a corrupted file.

I will try to get those files back from some other source.

Thanks a lot for your support.
