    Laptop not detecting scanner

    Hi

    I have a CanoScan N640P scanner connected to my Acer Aspire 5920 laptop via a 25 pin to usb cable. I have downloaded the driver for it but it isn't detecting it. I did lsusb and it showed "Bus 006 Device 004: ID 067b:2305 Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2305 Parallel Port" but the program for the scanner wont detect it.
