Dell inspiron 1545 internal fan won't stop

Hi, as the title says, my dell inspiron 1545 internal fan won't stop. I have ubuntu 10.04 32 bit version. I don't know why but it worked until today. i use xsensor to manage my temperature. Until today it was constantly going for 45 to 55 then coolers kicked in and brought it to 45 C degrees, like a constant loop. But today it will not stop and the temperature doesn't go below 55 C degrees. I only have Firefox open. What can be the problem?

I don't know the answer, but I also have a 1545, dual boot with win 7.
I find that the fans come on around 60 degrees then stay on until it drops down to 43 or so. The fan starts fast, but quickly slows. Then after they shut off, the temp climbs till 60 or so, then the fans start again.
I find that in 7, they exhibit roughly the same thing, but they start at around 50-55 and run at a more steady rate down to 43-45. Not too much difference really.
Beyond that, I really don't know.

open a terminal and run top.
Maybe npviewer (which is adobe flash plugin) is taking a fair chunk of cpu (it does on my computer (dell inspiron 1545)). If not, perhaps top may show what is.

My fan only runs on occasion.

The situation has come back to normal, I don't know, I'll keep an eye on this and if this happens again I will come back with a reply. Thanks!
