I'm going to do a clean install of my machine with the latest server version of Ubuntu from the desktop version of 7.1.
I have everything working the way I want in 7.1, but I can't upgrade/update/get patches - so a new install will happen.
What files can I copy off and then copy on to get Samba to work with all the same shares, settings, etc. so that I don't have to try to relearn all the Samba stuff I forgot long ago?
I'd like to run the 10.X install, install Samba and copy X files saved from the old install back onto the right subdirectories, hear a 'click' and have everything fall back into place (the click is a auditory illusion, or would that be allusion?).
Any help is appreciated - what files to save, what ownership needs to be set to upon restore, etc.
Thanks.
Andrew
