    !!! (warenty issue, good read)

    i found this using stumbleupon...

An anonymous reader said a Best Buy manager refused to replace his broken laptop ("because he installed linux") and threw him out of the store twice when he tried to argue. The reader had even gone so far as to purchase an $80 extended warranty.
makes me think that some people need to go back to tech school...

This is absurd! The Geek Squad are just that... a bunch of geeks. I'll surely remember this when making my next PC purchase.

Yikes! To think I was thinking of buying a Macbook Pro from them; seeing how they 'honor their warranties' I'm not taking the chance of losing over a thousand dollars if something goes wrong with it...

They always try to push me into buying anti virus even after I tell them I manage my system myself, I do not trust such software, even needing them is a fundamental flaw in security, it is not compatible with my operating system anyway, and to top it all I do not want it.

Part of the return policy of American is, as well, to disallow returns of computers that do not have the original operating system (and recovery partition) on them.

Not anymore. Best Buy forces trial software onto you, and takes off about 20 USD off the price of your computer because of it.

Might be kinda hard if its a hardware issue that prevents you from starting or even accessing the hard drive...
