full, thinks I'm critically low, HELP

Whenever I unplug my laptop, regardless of how much energy is in the battery, it assumes that I'm critically low and then it suspends. What's especially weird is that it'll often get frozen while sleeping after I unplug, and then when I restart it has networking disabled.

My power cable has really become fragile and it's going to disconnect an awful lot until my replacement ships, so this is especially annoying. If it helps, I have a Dell Mini 9 on Ubuntu 10.4.

Really, I'd think that the best solution is to get it to stop doing anything special when it gets "critically low," or just stop making the obviously false assumption.

I had the same problem, this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1466327 gave me a suitable solution (read to the end).
