10.04 Hangs on boot and no screen.

Hi Guys

Had 10.04 installed and working fine. I was installing "Kontact" PIM and was almost done when an error was thrown about the package. Also the update manager thru an error at the same time even though I was not updating. I had to ctrl alt delete my way to a shut down screen to restart things. On restart grub came up like it should and I selected the most recent kernel version and the rest is history the puter just sits there with a blank screen. Need some help troubleshooting this if possible thanks. This is a dual boot and I can get into win xp ok. Appreciate the help

You say

Did you update the kernel at the same time? Try using a previous kernel to boot then unistall Kontact. Then try to reboot using your prefered kernel.

No I did not update the kernel. Yes I tried booting the previous kernel and also the recovery modes. They all stall at boot. Think I am gonna have to do deeper on this.
