The question just occurred to me: Dell has been selling Ubuntu computers, but somewhere I heard that their printers are re-branded Lexmarks. I have two Lexmarks; one will print with Ubuntu, and it took a while for a beginner to do that. The other is a paperweight with Ubuntu. HP on the other hand I have found supports Ubuntu very well with their printers. It made me wonder, why was it Dell, and not HP, of the major manufacturers that was independent enough to offer boxes with Ubuntu pre-installed? I'm sure there are probably some legal problems or such, but would MS really have that much more hold over HP than Dell?

Just wondered. There may be a world of information out there that I am not aware of. Any ideas?
