Warning You are about to install software that can't be authenticated!

    Hi
Using Synaptic Package Manager I've tried to install several apps including Chromium Browser but encounter the warning message in the title. Should I stop in my tracks or is there another option, I don't know why the message?

    Thank you

If a repository doesn't have a key you will get this warning. Some repos don't have keys. If you haven't added any unknown yourself I think you have nothing to worry about. post a screen shot of one though if your worried.

This is just a warning to make sure you trust the source of a piece of software before installing it. If you are sure it is coming from somewhere trustworthy then don't worry about the warning.

OK thanks. I don't know where it's coming from, except through S.P.M. isn't that a good sign? ? how else do you tell?

Well you can add your own repositories to synaptic, so the fact that it is coming from synaptic doesn't mean it is completely trustworthy. If you didn't add any repositories yourself, though, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
