Hey I am completely new to Ubuntu, and I do not have any idea how to do what you said to do. If you could actually tell me how I could do those things please? I don't know where to type all that stuff basically. I need to get my f7d1101 to work. And also is there a way to bridge conections like on windows. THanks

For those having trouble creating the /lib directory and copying files there, you have to do it from the command line and preface the cp command with sudo. So:

    Code:
    sudo mkdir /lib/firmware/RTL8192SU
    and then

    Code:
    sudo cp rtl8192sfw.bin /lib/firmware/RTL8192SU
Hey, just thought you'd like to to know these instructions worked perfectly on Ubuntu 10.10 too. Even though I'd read that the kernels in 10.10 should support this driver out-of-the-box it wasn't happening.

Thanks for taking the time to document.

WOW! You are a saint amoung men!

Worked perfectly with a new install of Ubuntu 10.10 AMD64. Nice and simple.

This worked perfectly for me in 10.10 64 bit. Thanks for the tip!

Re: howto: Belkin F7D1101 with RTL8192SU from staging

FYI, I am mega-new to Ubuntu (try 3 hours) so please bear with me...

I just followed the instructions and moved the .bin file over to the directory, and restarted my computer but my card did not start. I re-named the .bin file because there was a space between the "2" and sfw, could that be why?

I have the f7d2101 setup.exe file on my desktop, but it will not install the driver, is THAT my problem?

is there anything else besides those commands that I have to do in order to get it to work?

    Thanks
