I've been having a strange issue with Kubuntu 10.04 64-bit. The first time (and *only* the first time) I press the shift key on my keyboard, the numlock light on my keyboard turns off! At first I thought that the numlock was also being toggled off when this happens, but in fact it isn't. It's not a critical issue or anything like that; I can simply tap the numlock key twice and the numlock light then stays for the rest of the session. I have Ubuntu 8.04 32-bit and Windows Vista installed as well and I don't have this issue running either of those.
Things I've tried to correct this include: playing around with the keyboard settings for the numlock (turn on, turn off, leave unchanged), checking the standard keyboard shortcuts for conflicts, playing around with the keyboard layout settings on the "advanced tab" of that(didn't try all of these, just the ones that seemed relevant - current layout is "Generic 105-key (Intl) PC"). Behavior hasn't changed.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I might go about troubleshooting this to figure out why it happens?
