Exclamation notification bubble shows up misplaced

    Hey,
I recently reinstalled ubuntu (switched from x64 to x86) but kept the /home partition.
Ever since, the notification bubble keeps showing misplaced as in the attached picture. I tried reinstalling the notify-osd package but to no avail. I looked around and found that you cannot customize anything about this bubble.

Ok, I don't want to customize it. I want to fix it. How can I do that please?

I'm using lucid with all my packages up-to-date

Re: notification bubble shows up misplaced

That's the correct placement for notifications in the last 2 Ubuntu versions. The gap is where system the volume notification goes if you control sound volume with your keyboard hotkeys. (and/or the battery level warning for laptops).

There is a ppa with a new version of notify-osd that is customizable... you can move it to different corners of the screen, you can revert to the old behaviour, change colors, etc... There's a ppa for a GUI for that too. Here are the links for how to enable it all...
