    Flash Websites

Is it just me who finds Flash Websites annoying? They take up too many resources, and they're embedded in html, which makes pretty good websites. I see ads for them and simply think, "Oh god." What do you guys think?

Annoying, but with flashblock, I don't have a huge issue with it. Websites that use it for navigation, I have a problem with. Honestly, that's just annoying. If it's just a small feature, like an animation, or a single movie player, I don't mind.

Flash sites? What are they? Wait a minute, I have to turn off NoScript before I can see some... ; )

    Re: Flash Websites

Flash was great at the time when released because there was nothing else like it available. Though for the Internet to evolve it has to be free of proprietary clients and authoring environments. The goal of HTML5 is to basically replace the functionality of Flash (and similar like Silverlight), but natively in the browser and as an open standard so anyone can implement a client (in this case a browser) or authoring environment for it.

More to add to my previous post. Here are some impressive HTML5 examples. Note you need a modern browser to view them, and also note that no Flash is used.

There are lots of others out there. Its just the beginning too since HTML5 is in early draft stages.
