Transfer photos to iphone

I have been reading up on getting photos onto iphone, got libimobiledevice installed tried gtkpod.

Is it possible to get photos onto iphone using ubuntu [into phone folder] ?

Or will I have to use something like itunes under windows

I found an app to allow transfer to and from iphone... via wifi works great
