Constant random double lettering when typing into an online text box

Hi guys,
I have an EeePC with karmic installed. (asus eeepc 904hd)
Whenever I am typing into a text box on line, like this one, I get random double lettering.
e.g. Helloo, this is whhat tends to happen.

It doesn't happen all the time, but say 9 times out of 10, and out of 300 characters, probably around 3 or 4 will get doubled up.
Sometimes its a lot more, more like 20 - 30 char$ our of 300 or so....

Very infuriating as one could imagine....
It gets near suicidally bad when typing onto some sites where they also have a lag, meaning a sentence like "Hi, this is what sometimes happens when the two issues work in conjunction" becomes "Hi, thiis is whatt happpeo issues woork in con".

I have tried altering the type rate settings and disallowing the repeat keys thing, to no noticeable avail.

Any ideas?

Just to note, this does not seem to be an issue when typing into an off line text field like terminals or word editors etc.
