Sending SMS through E-mail?

So I just stumbled upon how to do this while online and found this pretty cool. For someone such as myself this will work out great because I do not have any kind of data plan yet and texting through my Gmail account will help quite a bit, especially since I have access to internet pretty much all day. While I've got the sending and receiving thing down, I'm curious as to whether or not it will cost those I text more to respond directly to my Email address or if it will be treated as a normal texting cost.

Depends upon the carrier and plan. Cell phones are cheap these days and so are plans that include text. Just pick up a prepaid and you won't have to worry about the cost.

Lol, I've been doing this for years. Saved me a good chunk of money via my iPhone and ATT's ridiculous $20/month unlimited text/mms plan.
