    The reason for closure is "Political content is now to a point where closure is prudent."

    IMO, politics wasn't heavily discussed on it (except for a few intermittent posts, and the last post.) The issue could have been resolved just be deleting the last offending post instead of closing it entirely.

    I felt the discussion was circular and becoming increasingly Political. When that occurs that slippery slope is nigh on impossible to recover from.

    Possible solutions.

    1. Remove political posts and reopen ... long task
    2. Keep closed
    3. Start a fresh thread to discuss the current state of play and current "clean up" and disaster recovery attempts.

    I am quite OK if other staff are happy to reopen thread as it is , or to do any of the above. I am fully aware of the gravity of the topic and the terrible affect on those in the region so discussion is important.

    I completely understand if you can't reopen it. My OP wasn't a plea for reopening the thread. I just wanted to know the reason why it was closed.
