Ubuntu 10.04 + Ati Radeon 4800 + Perfect World (via CrossOver) = Full System Lockup

I am having the same problem reported in beta here (I do have a ticket open with Codeweavers) http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1453719, but I was wondering if anyone else had had an app in Wine completely lock your system using the ATI Radeon series drivers.

Tried re-installing, tried modifying settings, tried Windowed Mode and lowest card settings, etc. No go. 3-5 minutes, lose sound, then sound comes back, mouse moves, but otherwise entire PC is completely locked up.

Help?!

Well, sux to be us then. I have the same problem, but my laptop fails to even make the login screen. I have heard an evil viscous rumor that it is a bug in the Radion drivers mine is an x1400. SO untill the bug is fixed, we are up **** creek.

one reason i wasn't happy that my local PC store didn't have a ASUS N61JQ with a nvidia card instead of the crappy ATI Mobility Radeon 5730 1GB
if only AMD/ATI actually tried to make usable drivers we wouldn't have these problems~
