Developer Kamal Mostafa has pushed out a fix for this problem for computers with the Intel i915 display chipset:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/568611
To see if this is your chipset,
and scroll down until you see Display. It will say Intel i915 there.
Kamal's fix is pending inclusion in the main Ubuntu kernel updates, but you can get it here and install it yourself. It seems to be running fine for me:
https://launchpad.net/~kamalmostafa/...5bri/+packages
The two files you need are most likely:
linux-headers-2.6.32-24-generic_2.6.32-24.39~kamal~i915bri1_amd64.deb (or i386.deb)
linux-image-2.6.32-24-generic_2.6.32-24.39~kamal~i915bri1_amd64.deb (or i386.deb)
Scroll down and do a Save As on those two files, then go to your save directory in console and run:
Code:
sudo dpkg i *kamal*.deb
Then reboot.
