No display attached - what will ubuntu do?

    Hi

I think my laptop's nvidia card have been fried (all i get when i boot is a greyish screen and some hdd activity).
Does anyone know how grub2/ubuntu will react to this? Is it possible to boot fully into ubuntu?
I've installed ssh and made sure the port was open before my computer crashed.
I've managed to log into my dual boot windows (when i "log on" it registers at y wifi router), but thats not of much use.
I've tried with normal gdm login (enter>password>enter) and terminal login (username>enter>password>enter), but without any success (my wifi router doesn't register anything).

Thanks for any help with this

If you have another Ubuntu computer you could try some Remote Desktop viewer application. I remember previous versions of Ubuntu had one but I don't see one in any of the 10.04 menus.

After you boot up, can you ping the machine?

Re: No display attached - what will ubuntu do?

I've now logged in on my ubuntu machine. It was booting up in terminal mode, and network manager was of course not starting, hence no wifi authentication.
I've started internet sharing on the mac (to get a dhcp server) and connected directly with a ethernet cable.
It is obviosly the nvidia card which is roasted; from dmesg:
