    Live CD - WiFi Problems?

I just fired up Maverick Alpha 1 and noticed a few things when running a Live Session off CD:

    - Live CD seems to boot much slower than previous versions *
    - Live session never connected to my WLAN **

    * anecdotal only, there maybe a 100 reasons...

** My system has Intel 2945ABG wireless, the wireless is correctly recognized by Maverick. I click on "connect to hidden network" and enter SSID and WEP-Key (yeah, I know....) and click on "OK". After that, nothing whatsoever happens (the "breathing" antenna symbol for initializing a wireless connection never shows up). I can click on "connect to hidden wireless network" again and select my SSID from the list, but again, nothing happens.

The WIFI problem is only present in the live session though, after installation everything works fine out of the box. So I see this more as a snafu than a real problem at this point. Just curious if anybody else had a similar experience.

However, Maverick seems to be significantly slower on my machine than Lucid or Jaunty. Not good.

I just used the link in the sticky at the top of this forum, here it is:

    http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/maverick/alpha-1/

Like all the newer Live CD it boots with two counter-intuitive icons at the bottom of the screen, but the Escape key gets you to the familiar initial Ubuntu screen.

The ISO I used was the RC for A1 but it worked very well.

My netbook with bcm4312 chipset won't connect at all until the restricted wl drivers are installed.
