A way to turn off disasters in Micropolis?

Micropolis is an open source clone of Sim City, and a game which i can spend hours playing. It is available in the repo's or the Ubuntu Software Center. I would really appreciate it if someone can make a way to turn the "disasters" effect on and off because it is EXTREMELY annoying when you are trying to build a perfect city and it keeps catching on fire or whatever. Does anyone else agree? Otherwise I absolutely LOVE this game. Anyway, to the developers or whoever, please please please consider making the disasters an option which the player can toggle on and off. Thank you.

Well whatever it is, it's the shizzznottt. I am thankful for whoever made this happen. Still hoping there'll be a way to turn on/off the disaster effects. Also crossing fingers for Micropolis 2000 without the consumption issues of SC2000, but still happy with Micropolis. Thank You.
