Question HP Photosmart 2610 scanner in Lucid

Is there any way to get a HP Photosmart 2610 scanner to work with 10.04? I downloaded the latest hplip from sourceforge, but it didn't help. There are a few recipes posted dating back to dapper and such that don't work.

Whenever I try to run sane, I get "No scanners detected." cups has no problem using the printer, but I cant get the scanner recognized.

    What's the answer?

Try this. System -Admin - User and groups -Manage Groups - saned -(Make sure your user ID is checked.) Then restart your system and check it again.

Did you find the answer? I am having the same problem now. I connect the printer via the network connection.
