    Screen Resolution

I have been using Ubuntu 10.04 for a month with no problems, but today when I booted up the resolution has changed to 800x600, which is bad, and the normal resolution has disappeared from the list. I have a Proview 900W LCD wide screen monitor which supports 1440x900. How do I change it?

Do you have any drivers installed like ati or nvidia drivers? if so then try using their control centre to change the resolution. if not then try xrandr. I'm not to sure how to use xrandr but I'm sure someone else here does.

    Re: Screen Resolution

I didn't have the computer on all day yesterday. I was about to try the tutorial submitted by formaldehyde_spoon, but when I booted up, it was back to the normal resolution. I don't know how it disappeared or how it came back, so I guess I didn't learn anything. Some things about Ubuntu are very frustrating as I am so new to it, but I really like it and find myself using it more and more.
