    cannot mount usb volumes: "Not authorized"

    usb stick or Drive wont mount Not authorized ??? can any body help
    running lucid

    When I have gotten that message it has meant I do not have permissions to do what I am trying to do. So I check the groups to which my user belongs. So let's check your user's group memberships.

    With Ubuntu 10.4 try going to "Administration/users & Groups". Once there select your user and click on "advanced settings." Then click on the middle tab, which is "User Privileges."

    Look to see that "Access External Storage Devices Automatically" is checked. If not, then do so.

    Back out of that and then log out and log back in again.

    Test to see if you can access your external device.

    "Access External Storage ..." was checked?

    OK, report back and we'll let someone else have a crack at it.
