9.10 How do I re-install Nautilus after Nautilus-Elementary screwed my system?

I installed Nautilus-elementary 2 weeks ago (from CLI). It didn't work well & caused problems with GNOME-SETTING-DAEMON so I removed it. had to reinstall ubuntu-desktop also, and delete gconf.editor settings.

However I'm having issues with Nautilus and Ubuntu One. The U1 applet shows connected but Nautilus won't connect in the U1 folder, and the files won't
    upload.

I'm also seeing xorg start to randomly take 40 or 50% CPU.
(I'm having a few other minor Nautilus issues also.)

So it seems the only thing to do is reinstall Nautilus.

Synaptic however doesn't have the option to reinstall only removal or complete removal and I don't want to take that step without knowing what I was doing.

Any thoughts on how I can achieve this? I've read elsewhere that Nautilus reinstall is difficult. But I REALLY don't want to install 10.10.

    Cheers for any help.

Perhaps this might help the original question:

To remove nautilus-elementary, and re-install nautilus automatically:

Unhappy Re: 9.10 How do I re-install Nautilus after Nautilus-Elementary screwed my system?

    Hi there,

I'm trying to remove nautilus-elementary and equinox from 10.10 as I suspect that they're causing my current problem which is that after installing both when I try to use a number of programs (including Google Earth) the program starts to fire up (I sometimes get the splash screen) and then I get logged out whilst all my open windows are shut down.

As this recalcitrant behaviour is becoming very tiresome I really would like to stop it!!!

    The relevant PPAs are -

    ppa.launchpad.net/am-monkey/nautilus-elementary-ppa/ubuntu maverick main
    ppa.launchpad.net/am-monkey/nautilus-elementary-ppa/ubuntu maverick main (Source Code)
    ppa.launchpad.net/tiheum/equinox/ubuntu maverick main
    ppa.launchpad.net/tiheum/equinox/ubuntu maverick main (Source Code)

and I keep getting the error message -

Warning: Could not find package list for PPA:

I suspect that I'm using the wrong syntax.

Would you be able to assist with the correct syntax please?

    Regards and thanks in anticipation.

Re: 9.10 How do I re-install Nautilus after Nautilus-Elementary screwed my system?

Maybe I can help with Nautilus Elementary:
    sudo ppa-purge ppa:am-monkeyd/nautilus-elementary-ppa

Re: 9.10 How do I re-install Nautilus after Nautilus-Elementary screwed my system?

I removed the relevant ppas manually from the software sources but the default nautilus wasn't back. Elementary was still there...

    so, pay ATTENTION:
first remove the ppas by using ppa-purge and then from the software sources.

*ppa-purge can be installed through the Software Center

    Thank you all.
