Grub broken after update?

I have a dual boot system with XP 64-bit and Ubuntu 10.04. It installed grub and was working, but now it's not. I installed some updates and ended up rebooting. When I choose Windows from the grub menu now it just loops back to the grub menu. I tried running sudo update-grub? but that didn't solve anything. Am I the only one that preferred the old grub over this Grub2 crap?

Still no answers. Is it possible to install the original grub instead?

You might have installed grub to the windows bootsector. See here for a diagnosis and fix. http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawik...ms:Boot_Sector
