My ping on many games hovers around 150, sometimes spiking to 500 or higher... I know some of it is our slow DSL connection (1.5Mbps Down, 1.5Mbps Up (more like 1 in reality)) but what all can be done to help ping?

My ping on my netbook over wireless to google.com is 77ms but 126ms to apple.com.
Thats through an old motorola wr850g router, and then through an old 1mbs DSL router.
That's when no one else is using the network. The instant someone else uses the net, my ping jumps up until the game is unplayable.
I'd like to get a lower ping myself! Yours does seem high.
Is that with other traffic running? Anyone else downloading torrents, youtube and so on? So what's your network setup? Are you using a router?
Today I'm getting a newer DSL modem, so that should speed up a bit. My next upgrade likely be a new router.
