How do you concentrate?

I view bugs as enemies to hunt down and thoroughly murder, particularly bugs that annoy me either because they're very mysterious, or because they've exposed a design flaw or other fundamental error.

I view data as an opportunity from which to learn, although some data is simply depressing. Reading Twitter feeds while looking for ways to improve systems for extracting the odd bit of content sometimes makes me despair over the future of humanity.

the days are never over when you will stop writing anything meaningful. there are plenty of ways where you can put your great knowledge to use.

I can't seem to code for more than 15 minutes at a stretch, I quickly lose my concentration. Have any of you experienced a similar problem? How do YOU concentrate while coding?

One thing that helps is instant feedback. Break your problem down into pieces small enough that you can test and see your improvements working at frequent intervals, instead of building grand edifices of code that can only be tested at the end. Consider working in a language like Python, where you're relatively free of cruft and can do some things in the interactive interpreter, instead of a cumbersome language like C++ or Java.

I feel like my concentration is like a stack, I start off and keep pushing things onto it, then after about half an hour I am completely focused.

But as soon as someone asks me something, everything pops off and I have to start it all over again.

Need some sort of way to save the stack between interrupts

it must be bottom-up in computational work, IMHO.

I get my best work done late at night, when it's dark and quiet and I have complete solitude.

Same here, late at night is perfect for getting into the zone.
