Random file system check. A few questions.

I just booted up my laptop this morning and it said it had to do a file system check. As far as I know I haven't done anything recently like powering off the computer without using shut down, or things like that, that would cause there to be a file system check. It was plugged into AC power if that means anything. Basically I'm just wondering if Ubuntu just has a routine file system check after a certain amount of time being installed, or after being "started up"/booted into a certain # amount of times. I'm just curious to know why it would do this, because I'm not really too worried about this.

    Thanks for the help.

Ubuntu performs file system integrity checks every 30 boots. It is quite normal and, in my opinion, a good thing.
    Enjoy!
