Has anyone else noticed that hal is in the list of updates for ubuntu 10.04 this week?
I thought hal had been depreciated, and removed to speed up boot time
Am I missing something?
Help Please

No it saysOh and By the way HAL doesn't get my system slow. I may install boot chart tonight to show you or somethingUbuntu supports the full removal of HAL.
Here is the screenshot showing hal in the update manager. I am aware that 10.04 sports full removal of hal, that is why I am confused by it being an update.
Certain applications likely have HAL dependencies.
sorry if this qeustion is kind of lame, but , what would the replacement for HAL be ?
Yeah, I'm curious too.
This is only partially relevant, but Virtual Box has issues with Lucid. You cannot access USB devices in the client.

Starting HAL fixes the issue.

Maybe some other applications have similar issues and that is why it has been put back in.
