Scanner stops half way through scan

I have a GT-9800 epson scanner, when i try to scan with it using xsane, simple scan, or even skanlite, the progress bar stops partway through the scan and i get an error message saying "error during read: error during device I/O" i have been able to scan a full image only on the lowest quality setting (50 DP). In all i am stumped and am wondering if anyone can provide some insight.

Hi,

Try this alternative, go to the "Avasys" site and get their Imagescan package, go through the form filling in bit and when you get to the download page scroll right down until you see "Iscan or Imagescan deb" which is a completely seperate app from the full printing package, once downloaded use gdebi to automatically install it, needs a reboot to work properly.
