Hi!
I have installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my Aspire 9410z series laptop.
this laptop has issues... 1. the DVD/RW drive is gone fishing and 2. my TFT screen has met the gatekeeper... (i.o.w. both are defect)
Now my ubuntu starts up fine with the internal drivers running both screens and am able to configure resolutions and switch off the internal TFT so to use the external 19" as main and only monitor.
Right up until the time i install the suggested drivers via the Hardware Drivers application.
after the restart my computer starts up only giving feed to the internal TFT screen (which is cracked and unreadable) thus rendering my computer useless untill i reinstall ubuntu again. (which is, I realize, very crude but the only solution i came up with so far)

Having read up a little on these forums i found that with the incredible versatility of linux there must be some kind of workaround for this problem.

help?

Thank you!
