Dell PC with Ubuntu 8.04 with EMC2 will it work

HI Just a quick question. I am thinking of buying a used Dell PC maybe a GX260 GX270 something like that and would like to install Ubuntu 8.04 with EMC2 and XP on it. Will this work or will I run into issues with the Dell? I thought I read sometime ago that Linux and Dell PC’s did not play well together so I thought I should ask first. Any information will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Gerald

Actually Dell is doing better with Linux and even offers Linux on some models

My experience tells me otherwise. See my specs below for the dell I'm using.

Ubuntu has worked really nicely in my Dell since 8.10 for me.

And as mentioned above, Dell makes their own models with Ubuntu.

    Personal Dell hardware recommendation:
When looking for a Dell, go to the 'small and medium business' section to look for computers. In my experience the hardware for those is a lot better than the 'lower' models.
