The rt3070sta driver is installed and loaded.
I suggest that you open a terminal and execute:

    tail -f /var/log/syslog

and then plug in your Wireless USB to see what are the messages.

Re: Belkin N150 Wireless USB adapter rt2870 not working

    hi,

last night I was trying the rt2870 driver. so I unloaded rt3070, installed rt2870 and loaded the module. blacklisted rt2800usb. but no result. then I unloaded rt2870 and loaded rt3070 and I got my connection even using WPA!

Today I'll reboot the machine and see if it will work after booting. But I think so.

    That's good news...

I still have some problems with network getting disconnected... but life is not perfect.

Well... I tried using the newest version of the module from ralink and it didn't work at all on 11.04. The default compile generated a module named rt5370sta, I forced the chipset to rt3070sta (as I have an N150 I would imagine I have the same chip?!), but either way the wireless is not detected at all... I will try to copy the .conf file though because the make install only copies the RT28070STA.conf file and it could very well be that the right name is required there! Oh! And there was one small fix I needed to apply to the code to get the rt3070sta to compile (a test about RT33xx which I commented out.)

I finally got the rt2870sta to connect full speed (54mb/s once I setup an Ad-Hoc wireless connection with auto for the frequency), but to no avail.

So... I have a connection showing up, but when I try to ping my computer (198.168.1.1) or even the wireless router (192.168.1.254) I get Network Unreachable.

As suggested I tried with just WPA2 instead of WPA/WPA2, but that did not work. Maybe I'll try without encryption just to see whether the encryption is the culprit. But I was hoping that by now all these problem would have been solved...

Anyway, wondering whether someone has had this problem on Ubuntu 11.04?
