Question Boot From 8GB FLash Drive with only 500mb?

The name says it all. I set up my flash drive so Ubuntu could boot from it and save files to it and such as a portable OS. Well, it works except for the fact that Ubuntu only says I have 500mb of free space. Any idea why this is and how would I fix it?

It is 8GB and Ubuntu on my Flash drive is only 200mb.

More info please, what did you use to load it, and how much data is on it.

I am using syslinux to load it. The only data on the disk is Ubuntu that I extracted from the ISO. That's it. So it should be fine other than that. I am a relative noob, so this is new. I followed instructions from a website.

I basically used another program to extract the iso onto the flash drive and I followed this by using CMD to make the disk bootable.

So take a read here this will tell you how to have the full 8 gigs used. Also remember that you can't upgrade this to another distro and loading a new kernel will screw it up.

The portable thumb has limited uses just make sure you know what they are, good luck.
