Problem with Emerald

Hi, whenever I try to import a theme with Emerald and I lick on theme (as to apply it since it automatically applies it when you click on it) Emerald just suddenly turns off. It just disappears. Is there a command that I can use to apply the theme through Emerald or something? Is there an alternative program? I have already had this problem with Hardy and Lucid so I'm assuming that it's Emerald's fault. Please help.
