kino issue

I have a dvd issue. I have made several home DVD"s from a camcorder.
I then coped them to a DVD as one long continus video, hours in some cases.
Now I want to pull small sceen clip from the larger DVD. I installed KINO
"/media/cdrom0/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.BUP" is not a DV file. Do you want to import it? I select Yes and receive Failed to load media file "/media/cdrom0/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.BUP.dv" As a result I cant open the DVD . It will play in it's entire length.
