    Red face Boot into terminal

Ok this is a dumb question im sure with an easy fix, but I need to be able to login to terminal and I can't seem to find an easy way to do it from the login screen, or elsewhere that I would normally find in an older version of ubuntu. I need to run fsck with drives unmounted so some assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Restart your computer and hold down "shift" while it's booting. You should then be able to access the grub2 menu and recovery options.

Another way is to hold down "Ctrl - Alt - F#" (Where # is 1-6, F7 is graphical interface).

You can also just swtich to one of your tty sessions by hitting <Ctrl><alt><F1-F6> once you get to the login screen. Then kill the x-session if you want. Or you could just use a live CD.
