    Disabling touchpad locks up Ubuntu

    Hello everyone,

When I disable the touchpad on my HP Pavilion dv6 Laptop in Ubuntu by the button above the touchpad, the system freezes. My cursor can still move but I can t click anywhere. I am using a 64-bit system.

    Does anyone know a solution?

Wow! This is far from a solution for the problem, it actually lets me get back to be able to use my laptop again after I hit the touchpad disable button. On purpose or by mistatke.

    Brilliant, Thanks!

ctrl + f1, then ctrl + alt +F7 then ctrl + alt + F8 works for me. Without the last bit, I'm left with a black screen.
