How to convert video to faster speed?

I am trying to convert some very long and boring presentations to a faster speed.

I have found by playing it in VLC media player, that speeding it up by 1.3x makes it much less boring to listen to because the speaker seems more energic (without being unrealistic).

So what I want is to take these videos (a lot of them) and convert them to 1.3 times the speed, but without altering the pitch of the sound (I do not want the speaker to sound like a cartoon character). I also want to convert it into MP4 format so it can be played directly on iPad. Preferably also decomb/deinterlace it.

What tool or set of tools might I use to speed up and convert videos (without distorting sound pitch)?

    Thanks for suggestions!

I did not find any speed altering functions in Pitivi.
I will take a look at the Tragtor GUI.

I also found a manual way to accomplish the speed-up although it seems a bit cumbersome.

I'm still looking for a simple way to do this.
