automatic highlighting firefox search

This issue occurs when Firefox has been running for a while. I'll type into the search engine field, the one built into Firefox to the right of the navigation field, and everything i've typed will be highlighted. If i pause for a slight second when typing, everything gets highlighted and then erased when i continue typing. Restarting Firefox is the workaround.

Anyone else familiar with this bug?

I'm having this problem as well. Additionally, when typing in the address bar, sometimes firefox misses some of the letters.

This only started after upgrading to 10.04 from 9.04. Running firefox with no plugins except the Ubuntu Firefox Modifications. Have just tried disabling that and will see if it helps the problem, but since it only occurs occasionally, will need to wait.

I suffer from this too on a fresh install of 10.04x64. I think it's something to do with the mouse focus as when I'm affected by this, moving the mouse cursor from firefox to the desktop or another window will cause firefox to lose focus. Alt-tabbing back to firefox will then let me type unhindered.

I'm in the middle of exam season at the moment so can't look into this though I've been wanting to. When I'm free I'll look into it. If you want to have a go though try fiddling with mouse focus properties
