No Sound after upgrading to 10.04

I upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 and now my sound doesn't work at all. Not sure what the problem is and would appreciate some help...preferrably not a re-install

I have the same problem! Can someone please help us out?

I ran in to that problem.

1. Type "alsamixer" in a terminal.

2. Use arrow keys to select and increase all the volume controls to their maximum values.

3. Press the escape button to exit.

The sound will now work, if your problem is the same as mine.

OK thanks so simple!! worked for me. Not sure why that happened!
