My Laptop not booting up

Hi, I am on Ubuntu 9.10 and vista business dual mode. My laptop suddenly stopped booting when I choose Ubuntu. I used a live CD to boot up. Now I can see the files in Vista partition. I cannot see my original files in the original Ubuntu folder.
