Re: Share with the community your Lucid Lynx install/upgrade experience
Sony Vaio BX540B - no issues!
This is an older laptop that my son uses for school work. He had XP on it and it was infected with viruses, malware, etc and was to the point of being unusable. I had tried Ubuntu on this laptop several version ago and there were things that didn't work.
Booted the Lucid desktop CD from USB flash drive, told it to erase the disk and use the whole thing. Done deal. First thing I did after the install was to install Ubuntu Restricted Extras. Flash works, sound works, wireless works.... the only thing I found that wasn't working were the special function key combinations (hit the Fn key plus the F5 key to decrease sound.... etc), but my son tells me those weren't working under Windows either.... so who knows.
Anyways, he now has a laptop he can use to do homework, surfing, email, and I think he's going to install TweetDeck.
10.04 does it again. So far I'm 100% satisfied.
