What tutorials would you like to see (more basic ones please - not like 3ddesktop or XGL or similar)?

Great idea!

I guess newbies could use tutorials about:
* How to install Ubuntu to dual boot with Windows (the whole proccess with resize windows partition etc).
* How to make windows partitions mount on boot up.
* How to install/uninstall programs with Synaptic.
* How to add stuff and do other tricks with the panels.
* How to use workspaces and other features newbies are not used to from Windows.
* Nautilus tips and tricks (list view, browser mode, editable address field and other more or less hidden options).

Thanks for the ideas.. the dual booting issues are advanced, and there is already a tutorial on video.google.com about that.

Installing programs I can show. Workspaces, sure. panels, ok. nautilius tips I dunno about, but I can research that..

Great idea

Somethings I would like to see (not for me personally but for computer newbs like my mum & some friends)

basic things that many of us take for granted like:

setting up pop email in a client like Evolution / thunderbird

making new folders (with emblems) to keep things like docs, music etc neat in your home folder

perhaps a video on customizing the desktop - say,

downloading a picture, then changing it to the desktop background.

next, you could change the theme / window boarders & icons & perhaps finish the video with a link to a site where a user might download more themes / desktops so they can really make their computer their own

The gnome-art program would be perfect to show in that video, it is a user friendly way to get Gnome themes and wallpapers.

how are you using wink to capture the frames, it won't capture them automatically for me?

There is only one minor problem with this; using flash locks out the 64 bit users. It is a PIA to get flash working on 64 bit. I would prefer something that did these tutorials in ogg/theora format, downloadable.

It might be nice to create a new user and create the tutorials with the new user on your computer. That way the environment will look just like what a newcomer to ubuntu sees.

Also, in your nmap tutorial, you paste a command, but it is way too fast for anyone to read. Unless I missed something, in which case I'd argue it should be more obvious

Great idea and good job so far though!
