Lightbulb Gnome Theme: Ambiance_R (Ambiance Right Side)

I posted up a modified version of the Ambiance theme to Gnome Look if anyone wants a copy of it.

It has the controls moved to the top right side and added the menu control back to the top left side.

Here is the link for it.

Gotta say (no offense to you zipperback), I really like the ambiance theme with the buttons on the left. This is the first default theme that with a little modification I have really liked. 10.04 is the first install I haven't installed Mac4lin on. I always felt that I was ripping off Mac but couldn't find a theme I liked as much. All I did was match the window background to the tool bar and I'm pretty happy.

    Hi,

No worries. I made the modification to the theme because there have been numerous people asking for instructions on how to move the controls back, and people have been being told to use the gconf tool to modify the menu positions. Which in general is probably "ok" but not really the best option because then the user doesn't have the ability to easily switch back unless they once again use the gconf tool.

By using this version of the Ambiance theme, they can switch back and forth by simply selecting the modified theme in the appearance configuration tool.

Ubuntu Linux and Open source in general is about the freedom of choice. This just enables them another way to choose how they want to use their computer.

I also posted up a modified version of Radiance as well.

Here's the forum post for it.

zipperback, thanks for the modified theme. I really appreciate your work.

However, I was wondering if there's a way to restore the program icon on the top left instead of the grey dot menu button?

Hi, have you guys seen the theme "Dichotomy" its a redux of the Ambiance theme with purple highlights and buttons on the right hand side. I think it looks better than Ambiance - and theres more contrast using the purple rather than the light browny colour used for the menus. You should check it out.

The modified version, Ambiance_R, doesn't load properly. For some reason some things appear in a 'grey boxy theme'. Sometimes things will display the theme correctly, sometimes they don't. I'll show you with the attached screenshots.

The original Ambiance theme works fine though.
