Is Lynx shutting down properly?
I've been testing Lynx on my Acer Aspire One 751, and apart from the unsupported graphics card, I'm loving it.
But I've noticed that when I shut down, I always get that characteristic 'popping' sound of a hard drive that hasn't been cleanly shut down.
I'm told that over the course of time this will destroy a hard drive, so I'm a bit concerned.
Just wondering if anyone is getting this on other machines (and if it IS serious, or if I'm worrying about nothing).

Re: Is Lynx shutting down properly?
Since I reinstalled Lucid a few days ago I also got this sound most of the times I shut down the computer. Don't know if it was some configuration that changed because the reinstallation, or if an update which caused this landed the day I reinstalled.

Re: Is Lynx shutting down properly?
I must admit, the thing that worries me most about this is that I've heard that these 'unclean' shutdowns can eventually damage the hard drive.
I seem to remember that there was a problem with an earlier version of Ubuntu, but it got fixed.
I'd hate to think that Lucid might damage my hardware.
